We publish magazine across the business, social, diplomatic and civic space and focus primarily on a county by county basis to give real prominence and promotion to the thirty-two counties on the Island of Ireland. We also project management specific projects in the publishing arena on a third party basis. In addition we manage business associations for their members and we also host prestigious events in the business, social, diplomatic and civic area.
THE FOUNDER OF No.1 MEDIA GROUP
Our Founder and CEO is Michael Mulcahy who has over 30 years experience in the publishing industry. He was the founder of one of Ireland’s most successful magazines which he sold his interests in during 2012. Michael is also Chairman of one of Ireland’s largest Amazon and Ebay businesses bigwhiterabbit.com which retails a range of products from Little Island to over 66 countries around the world with fulfilment centres in the UK and USA. In 2010, the Irish and Polish Governments appointed Michael as the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Poland in Cork with responsibility for the Cork, Kerry and Waterford areas.
Michael is a Co-Founder of Ireland Consular Corps which is the organisation that represents Honorary Consuls in Ireland and currently serves as its Vice President. Michael is a Director of Diplomat magazine which is Ireland’s diplomatic magazine that is promoted in 200 countries and territories around the world. In 2016, Michael and his Co-Director John X Miller will launch The Global Diplomatic Centre in Cork which will see Cork as the first second city in the world to have a Centre that affords all Embassies a base in Ireland’s second city. Michael also serves as Chief Executive Officer of Little Island Business Association which is the largest business association in County Cork and has 1,000 companies and over 17,500 employees and visitors within its area every day.
In November 2014 Michael was appointed as Chairman of Cork Civic Trust which is the organisation with responsibility for protecting and preserving the architectural and heritage fabric of Cork City and County. Cork Civic Trust celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2016 and has ambitious plans under the stewardship of Michael for 2018 and beyond. Michael studied law and international marketing and is a former Young Scientist of the Year award winner and prior to establishing his media companies he studied law and international marketing in the USA and worked with UniLever plc, James Crean plc and a DCC plc backed company.
